APECA-Peru Tour Opportunity: August 2007The APECA-PERU tour is organized by Orvis, a 150-year-old company that started out as a sport fishing supplier, located in Manchester VT. To accommodate their own clients, they started organizing fishing trips, now that business has grown into a major outdoor adventure tour business. They organize many tours for groups like ours and have proven to be very reliable.
As a major contrast to the highlands of Peru, you will have an opportunity to visit Iquitos and the APECA study center at El Fundo in the jungle along the Amazon River. There you will have the opportunity to see how we impact the District of Fernando Lores with our clean water program, built with Rotary Club funding; reforestation and conservation projects; and learn about our community training programs, etc. You have read in our newsletters about the two new dormitories that we built in 2004 and 2006 with your help. Dr. Phil Rasori, MD, our guide (pictured here at his photographic exhibition in Santa Monica CA) has led tours for many years. As a medical doctor and photographer of indigenous people, he has traveled to many remote places around the world. Having trekked the Inca Trail three times, he knows the Machu Picchu area well.
